Quai Branly Museum – Paris
The striking new Musée du Quai Branly, designed by acclaimed architect Jean Nouvel, will exhibit multi-ethnic art objects such as a collection of masks from Burkina Faso (14-17 December).

Oslo World Music Festival – Oslo
Flamenco guitar legend Paco de Lucía (pictured) headlines this world-music celebration in Oslo, which features a range of diverse styles including traditional Indian rhythms, Cuban salsa and Coltrane-style jazz with a Norwegian twist. Stop by if you’re in town because there’s bound to be someone that suits your tastes. The fun is in discovering new favourites by seeing as many acts as possible.

Christmas Swimming Cup – Geneva

Christmas markets – Berlin
Berlin’s department stores engage in an annual ‘war of spectacular Christmas window displays’, but the city is also host to a staggering 50 different Christmas markets, brimming with more original gifts. The ‘Alex’ market has an ice-rink to entertain the youngsters as the adults shop, while the Kaiser-Wilhelm-GedächtnisKirche market attracts shoppers with everything from traditional Christmas decorations to edgy urban jewellery.

Ulla Lemberg – Malmö
The Swedish photographer’s latest exhibition, titled ‘I Want You To Know’, shines a spot light on the living conditions of women in societies around the world over the last fifty years.
