What can you get for your money in… London?

BUDGET £150,000 (approx. 1,650,000 DKK)
East London is one of the areas in the British capital where you can still get a property for under £200,000. In Stepney, Hackney and Walthamstow you can find one-bedroom flats in ex-council estates (former social housing) for around £150,000. Many of these areas are still considered a bit ‘edgy’, but East London has excellent potential for profit, with the new East London Line train track due for completion in three years, and 1012 Olympics development underway.

STANDARD £300,000 (approx. 3,300,000 DKK)
It is possible to live in central London – if you have around £300,000 to spend. That will buy you a bright two-bedroom flat with wooden floors and a new kitchen near Paddington, which is a very central location full of hotels, shops and old beautiful Victorian houses.

LUXURY £1,000,000+ (approx. 11,000,000 DKK)
If you want luxury in London, you’ll have to spend. There are many traditionally wealthy areas in West London, such as Knightsbridge, Kensington and Chelsea where luxury houses are easy to find. You can, for example, get a beautiful five-bedroom house with three bathrooms, two drawing/dining rooms, huge kitchen and a garden in Chelsea for £4,250,000.

The Wight kind of property

The UK’s Isle of Wight, off the South coast of England, has long been known as a quiet, quaint seaside retreat. But it’s recently become so much more than that. With some highly sought-after luxury property hotspots, it’s now a fashionable place to live, too. Cowes, on the northern coast of the island, is one of the top three regatta venues in the world, and the town has attracted lots of new stylish developments, such as Barratt Homes’ Nautiqua development of luxury apartments and houses.

Sunny times for East Germany

A holiday home in the old East Germany? It may not sound as nice as Spain, France or Greece. Yet the north of the old East Germany is full of wonderful beaches and lovely little seaside towns where a holiday apartment could be yours for as little as €65,000 (aprox. 483,000 DKK). The company BoligBerlin, which until now has specialised in selling property in Berlin to mainly Scandinavians, has expanded its services and is now selling seaside holiday apartments in Warnemünde, just north of Rostock. It’s very easy to reach from Denmark, and with prices being much lower than holiday houses there, it’s a good alternative.
